Accident Scene Management (ASM) classes are designed to teach individuals how to safely and effectively manage the scene of a motorcycle accident or other emergency situation.

These classes typically cover topics such as:

  1. Assessment and scene evaluation

  2. Injury assessment and triage

  3. Basic life support and first aid

  4. Communication and incident command

  5. Hazard control and scene safety

  6. Victim stabilization and extrication

  7. Documentation and reporting

Courses covering these topics are usually offered by organizations such as:

  1. Accident Scene Management, Inc. (ASM)

  2. Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF)

  3. American Red Cross (ARC)

  4. National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)

  5. Local emergency medical services (EMS) providers

The Accident Scene Management classes are targeted towards motorcyclists, but are also useful for anyone who wants to learn how to respond to emergency situations, including drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

In Chicago, Ride for CHANGE Ride for HOPE Foundation is working with Accident Scene Management, Inc. to make training available. This project is made possible through grant funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Details for upcoming classes in Chicagoland can be found on the Ride for CHANGE Ride for HOPE Motorcycle Safety Program's Facebook page.
